Now that I no longer live in NYC, I do not have easy access to the Ralph Lauren Rugby store, and I have been going through some serious 'dress like a rich college kid' withdrawal.

I was on the Ralph Lauren site today and was so excited to find out that they are relaunching their rugby.com site as an e-commerce web site. Now I can shop online like a collegiate crackhead. This is all happening in mid-August, just in time for the start of school. I'm so psyched that I might have to go back to college and hang with some frat boys. Straight up Old School Frank-the-Tank style.

Yves Saint Laurent has passed away on June 1, 2008.

He was born in 1936 in Oran, Algeria. After winning first prize in the International Wool Secretariat contest for his asymetrical cocktail dress in 1954, Saint Laurent immediately went to work for Christian Dior. Saint Laurent became Haute Couture designer when Dior died in 1958. Saint Laurent completed a total of six collections for the house of Dior, beginning with the highly successful Trapeze collection.

He opened his own couture house, YSL, in 1962.

The Riv Gauche boutiques for women were established in 1966, and menswear was added in 1974. His muse was Catherine Deneuve for many years.

He frequently used ethnic themes in his garments, as well as bright colors contrasted with black. His day clothes have a slightly masculine flavor, while his luxurious evening wear is tinged with fantasy. He is famous for "Le Smoking" tuxedo jacket, see-through blouses (1968), peasant blouses, bolero jackets, pantsuits, and smocks.

In July 1965, Yves Saint Laurent unveils the infamous Mondrian haute couture fall-winter '65/'66 collection.

In Summer 1966, Saint Laurent was the first couturier to show his Haute Couture show live on the internet.

Sooo... I was gettin' my Google on searching for a gift for my friend, and I came across these glamorous rubber gloves on the Carolyn's Kitchen website. Yes, they also carry the cutest retro aprons, but c'mon.....These gloves are ridiculous. Just down right genius. Not only do they make me actually want to clean like a crazed 1950's housewife, I feel they can add a much needed touch of sophistication when it's time to bitch-slap someone.

My boyfriend, Mr.Marc Jacobs, has done it again.

We all know about the Murakami Exhibit now showing at the Brooklyn Museum. However, I recently came across these pics of an apparent LV Street Market that is also part of the exhibit. This market is obviously supposed to be a replication of Canal Street. Hellloo?! So, are those real bags in the pics or are they fake? Why wasn't I asked to help out with this installation? Do you think they have secret back rooms with all the 'good' stuff? Why don't they have a dude in fake bling selling mixtapes? Why haven't they asked to have Cookie Cutter apparel as part of this? These are the questions I ponder. I must go see this immediately.

I have been a huge stalker - ugh, I mean fan - of DJ Neil Armstrong for a good 5 years or so. He is one of the original members of the 5th Platoon, a collective of DJ's from NYC to the Bay Area. Nonstop, Bittersweet, Sweeet, Original, 2orginal -- are just a few of his creative mix cds that have sent me to another level. I have been honored to meet him at Undrcrwn's photoshoots and parties. Besides being one of the most nicest, bling-free, soft-spoken guys I have ever met, he is just mad talented. And now, Jay-z, the Hova of all Hovas, has recognized such talent. Neil has been asked to be Jay-z's DJ for The Heart of the City Tour. He is currently rocking the stage with Jay-z and Mary J. Congrats to Neil!!! I guess the nice guys do win in the end.
